Looking to add a little something special to your Easter tablescape? Nothing could be easier or better suited for spring décor than fresh flowers. Yellow, in particular, can be a remarkably powerful color for spring - especially after a dreadfully gray or snowy winter. Aside from the color alone, the beauty and fragrance of fresh flowers are guaranteed to make anyone smile.

Hello! Hope your new year is off to a fantastic start.
This winter has been pretty mild so far, but that doesn’t mean some of us aren’t super-eager for spring. So what’s my #1 tip for surviving the rest of winter? Start planning your home improvement projects now! 2015 was remarkably busy for our industry (the strongest I’ve seen it since I started my business 8 years ago), and that momentum has set us up for a promising 2016.
So rather than wait until the last minute, start the conversation today! Whether you want to remodel your kitchen, bath, or basement, or perhaps redefine a dated dining room, Lavender & Lotus Interior Design would love to be part of your next project.

Just when I think each year couldn’t possibly be busier or more wonderful than the next… There are many things I’m thankful for this year - my perfectly imperfect house, the opportunity to work in a job I am passionate about, and most importantly the health and happiness of my family.
Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving with those you hold most dear.

You may recall that Lavender & Lotus participated in Building On Hope’s 2012 extreme makeover to benefit the Girls, Inc. facility in Manchester, NH. Well, we’re at it again!
Building On Hope has selected the Manchester Police Athletic League’s Beech Street location in downtown Manchester, NH for their 2016 project. This organization, otherwise known as MPAL, provides free after school activities including aikido, judo, wrestling, boxing, rugby, and lacrosse as well as academic support from Manchester Police officers.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of our at-risk youth. There are about 8,600 youth living within a mile of MPAL - one fourth are minorities and one third live below the poverty line. With new space and improved facilities, MPAL will continue to build trust between law enforcement and young people, contribute to making a stronger community, and stop problems before they start.
To learn more about how you can help support this project, either with a financial contribution or as a volunteer, contact Aimee here. To learn more about Building On Hope and see previous projects, their website is available here.

Every season has it’s share of awesomeness, but I think that Fall is probably my favorite. Cooler weather and local harvests make Fall a great time to bake, dust off that trusty crockpot, and swap out summer attire for warmer alternatives. While you’re at it, this change of wardrobe also creates a perfect opportunity to bring order to rebellious closet.
But before the tidal wave of Pumpkin Spice this-or-that carries you right into Christmas, here are 3 things you may not have considered for Fall:
Energy audit - now is a great time to have a professional evaluate the efficiency of your home and make suggestions to help you save money.
Chimney/heat maintenance - be sure to have your heating system properly cleaned and serviced before temperatures drop too low.
Homework zone - help support your kids with an appropriate space for them to study and focus. Light, color, furniture, and noise should all be considered.
Take a walk - “Leaf Peepers” come from far and wide to appreciate the beauty we call home. It’s astounding to me how infrequently people actually get out in nature to enjoy it.
That’s it for now! Happy Fall to one and all

September 2nd, 2015
Hello, hello! Wonderful to see you again :) And just like that - it’s September.
A popular project this time of year is what I like to call a redesign. This is when we give an existing space a new look or function. Examples may include breathing new life into a living room, turning a guest room into an office, or improving the organization of a mudroom. A redesign may include new furniture, a new color palette or accent color, flooring, lighting, window treatments, accessories, and possibly minor construction.
Contrary to popular belief, not every designer is bound and determined to reinvent the wheel that is your home. I love to incorporate existing pieces and achieve the desired results as efficiently as possible. Most importantly, I work with each client to develop a recipe for change that best fits their needs and goals.
So what project are you looking to tackle in the coming months? Fall is an excellent time to create order after a chaotic summer as well as plan ahead for holiday entertaining. Let’s start the conversation - call or write today!

… or sweet… or tranquil… or sophisticated… or cheerful… or sporty… (felt like I was naming off Spice Girls or the 7 Dwarfs for a second there…)
Summer is an awesome time to paint. But when contemplating the options feels a bit like counting stars in the night sky, it’s no wonder that many are overwhelmed with the thought of it. Regardless of whether you love or hate to paint, color can have a remarkable affect on us - not just psychologically but physiologically.
Few people realize that color affects our mood, our appetite, even how well we are able to concentrate or relax in a space. Literally, color can make or break a room. Need I also mention that 1 in 10 men are also color blind?
Because color can be so complicated, and because I know the difference the right color can make, a color consultation is one of my favorite services I offer. I love being able to work with someone for what could be as little as an hour, and be able to provide them with peace of mind and confidence that they will love their color selection.
Is there a painting project on your To Do list this summer? Call or write today to schedule your consultation.

Holy moly - what a month! I feel wonderfully blessed (and slightly delirious) after such a crazy start to summer. Here are a few snippets so far:
It all began with the installation of a restaurant remodel I have been working on.

Followed by a brief camping excursion celebrating my 2nd anniversary with my beloved.

But there is little rest for the weary! Catching up from any time off can be a considerable task -
especially when you work two jobs!!!

Throw in the highs and lows of a bachelorette party, the loss of a friend, a birthday, Father’s Day, and my parent’s 40th wedding anniversary…

And to top it all off, my little sister was the most beautiful bride only days ago <3

That’s a wrap for now - stay tuned for more to come
