My style? Mid-century/Bohemian. What does that say about me? I like to walk a fine, yet complicated line between classic-linear-graceful-modesty and artsy-funk-organic-fantastic. But that is just me.
Probably one of the best things about my job is the opportunity to explore, celebrate, and play with the variety of styles that exist. No two people or families are alike, and our interiors should honor that which makes us different.
So! Consider this the first in what will be a new series dedicated to style. First up, Traditional. What characteristics define this style? I would say Traditional is classic, sophisticated, possibly more on the formal side, with lots of symmetry. Check out these gorgeous images:

Normally I wouldn’t say this, but I love quizzes! Well, the one’s involving color, style, and psychology at least :) Pittsburg Paint is currently offering a fun color personality test on their website. Of course it’s not the end all - be all, but it’s definitely a great way to stir up the creative juices. Feel free to take the quiz often, your answers are likely to change - especially in different seasons.

Originally, I was “Pop Art”. The 2nd time around was “Tapestry/Mosaic”.
Where do you score?

It’s official - I have been bitten by the 2011 Spring Cleaning Bug. You give an New Hampshire-ite a few days of not-so-terrible weather in early March, and they do one of three things:
-
Grab their skis and drive to the nearest mountain;
-
Grab their golf clubs and practice their putt; or
-
Grab their broom and start cleaning.
Spring cleaning is about breathing the fresh air not only by opening the windows, but by clearning the clutter that is clogging your life. Spring is about introducing color, experiencing something new, and showing little mercy for the dust bunnies that have been hibernating all winter.

Supersize this year’s spring cleaning with the help of an organizing and color professional. This is a great time to prep the home or office for the year ahead.

As a woman in her early 30s, it should come as no surprise that many of my friends/ acquaintances are taking the next step in adulthood and becoming parents. Very exciting!
One benefit to working with a designer, is having a friend to see you through life’s many changes. A relationship that may start with a nursery can develop into finishing off the basement to create a playroom, or adding a bathroom to manage a house full of teenagers.
Here’s a super cute kid’s room I just whipped up

A common New Year’s resolution is to get organized and a great first place to start is by working on that troublesome closet. This especially works well this time of year because most people ended the holiday season with twice as much STUFF as they started with. So where does it go?
While some organizing strategies are universal, others need to be customized to individual storage problems. For instance, do you HATE folding clothes? If so, are you likely to fold your clothes? I doubt it. Also, think about the stuff you are storing. A woman with a shoe or purse collection will likely have different needs than an athletic family of five.

If you haven’t noticed by now, the sun has been setting earlier and our days are growing shorter. With less natural light we turn to artificial sources to light up our homes and offices. Unfortunately far too many homes suffer from poor or ugly lighting. But have no fear - Aimee is here.

Have you experienced a kitchen pendant either hung too high or too low?Does your bathroom lighting create harsh shadows? Are you constantly working in your shadow in the kitchen? Lighting changes will make a huge difference to your life. Don’t be left in the dark - cheesy, I know :) Call today!

Can you see what I see?
Here we are approaching the last few months of 2010. This is a time when many business professionals are looking back to reevaluate the year. Where did we succeed? Where did we fall short? What can we learn and apply for 2011?
Recently I read an article named “Clutter that Blocks Money”. This article discussed how an unorganized workspace can lead to inefficiency and chaos, which ultimately will get in the way of accomplishing our goals. A cluttered office will also buzz with negative energy. Clear the air (and your desk) to help your business blossom. Change doesn’t have to be drastic to bring remarkable results.
For help paving the way to your professional success in 2011, consider the help of a professional organizer.

I dare you to say “Pesky problem rooms are the perfect referral” five times fast
Last week my ever-so-talented painter friend mentioned tackling a pesky problem room before his inlaws came to visit. With the holidays quickly approaching, pesky problem rooms make for the perfect referral for me as well!
Perhaps the living room is showing signs of too much wear, the dining room is a diaster, the guest room is looking less than hospitable, and the bathroom - well the bathroom is just bad. You know who to call!
By the way … how is that tongue twister coming along?
