Ikat

Tuesday, December 4th, 2012

In case I haven’t mentioned it before, I have a MAJOR thing for Ikat fabrics. They are graphic, they are colorful, they are exotic, and simply sensational. Ikat (pronounced e-cot) is a dying technique utilizing a resist dyeing process (sorta like using rubber bands in tie dyeing). The yarns are strategically dyed prior to being woven, resulting in a fabulous striated pattern. This design has been known to various cultures for centuries, and it’s a hot trend you’re likely to see more of in 2013. Absolutely love it!

oh Chester

Friday, November 2nd, 2012

Be still my heart. I have a MAJOR thing for Chesterfield sofas. They are classic, sophisticated, textural, versatile, awesome, fantastic, wonderfulness. Seriously. I can barely think. This is a problem.

Of course you don’t have to take my word for it. See for yourself!

I’m back! What a lovely weekend it was. I didn’t end up pinning as much as I had originally planned, but that’s ok. Where I’m at is exactly where I’m supposed to be :)

In other news, I thought I would share some rockin’ recent finds from Etsy. Man, that site is truly a wonderland of awesome everything. Check it out!

Love affair

Friday, June 15th, 2012

I’ve had a love affair with Bentwood chairs for years now. They are classic and elegant, but can be fun and playful too. I’d say they fit into just about any style of decor.

Pouf

Monday, May 21st, 2012

Just so we are clear, this post has nothing to do with big hair or magic spells… A Pouf is defined as a “soft round or square seat with no back or sides”. These adorable little buggers are fantastic! and here are several reasons why. Not only are they adorable (as mentioned), but they are versatile too. Poufs can be used for additional seating as well as to rest your feet on. In some applications, you might even use one as a semi-sturdy side table. Poufs can be colorful, textural, and durable as they are generally made out of leather. Still need convincing? Poufs can also be used as storage! That’s right folks, storage. Traditionally, European countrys are slim on storage so they keep their off season clothes in these soft boxes. Love, love, love them.

Sensational, on the side

Monday, May 7th, 2012

For one reason or another, I’ve got a thing for sideboards and buffets. A major thing. Maybe it’s the thought of extra storage (you can never have enough), or their generally lean proportions that drive me wild. Either intricately ornate or sleek and refined, I’m a fan.

Here are a few for your viewing pleasure.

Pin-spired

Friday, May 4th, 2012

It’s been raining for what seems like forever. I realize the earth and flowers really need it, but come ON! Perhaps I’m just operating on a bit of short fuse from an intense week. Gotta love growth.

To lighten the mood, here are some cute, happy, fun things from Pinterest-land. Happy weekend!

Mix n’ Match

Thursday, April 12th, 2012

As usual, life is good - and BUSY! Although I hate to write and run, I’m afraid I must.

I love these mismatched seating groups. They add variety, color, interest, and a playfulness to the space. Maybe it’s also my fondness for the Weasley family or the Three Bears coming out as well - everyone has a chair that is unique to them :) What do you think?

Exciting finds on Etsy

Saturday, February 11th, 2012

Believe it or not, I’ve just discovered Etsy. (I know! What is wrong with me?!) Granted I heard about it ages ago, but I never slowed down long enough to peek for myself. Amazing! This is an excellent resource for vintage finds and handcrafted wares. Take a look…
