a recipe for change

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2015

Hello, hello! Wonderful to see you again :) And just like that - it’s September.

A popular project this time of year is what I like to call a redesign. This is when we give an existing space a new look or function. Examples may include breathing new life into a living room, turning a guest room into an office, or improving the organization of a mudroom. A redesign may include new furniture, a new color palette or accent color, flooring, lighting, window treatments, accessories, and possibly minor construction.

Contrary to popular belief, not every designer is bound and determined to reinvent the wheel that is your home. I love to incorporate existing pieces and achieve the desired results as efficiently as possible. Most importantly, I work with each client to develop a recipe for change that best fits their needs and goals.

So what project are you looking to tackle in the coming months? Fall is an excellent time to create order after a chaotic summer as well as plan ahead for holiday entertaining. Let’s start the conversation - call or write today!

attitude of gratitude

Thursday, November 28th, 2013

(Holy cow, is it really Thanksgiving already?!)

What an incredible year it has been. Today I am thankful for …

… my patient and clever husband… my hilarious, beloved family… for the courage to run my own business… for awesome clients and supportive business partners who keep me in business… for the ability to laugh at myself… for the power of choice… for sweet cats with big personalities… for an appetite to learn and grow… for a creative mind… for beautiful things… for flavored coffee… crockpot meals… chocolate anything… for Masterpiece Theater (PBS is amazing!), New Girl, SYTYCD, and Duck Dynasty… for Paul Simon, Ani Difranco, Mumford & Sons, and Bonnie Raitt… for my adorable, work-in-progress house… and for caffeinated bursts of productivity…

Wishing you all a very happy day!

all things fall

Tuesday, October 15th, 2013

Some time has passed since I’ve done much Pinning. My Pinterest consumption got a little out of control back in the days of wedding planning. Now that I’ve had a respectable break, I thought it wouldn’t hurt to explore some seasonal imagery. All good things in moderation, right?

How will you be decorating for the fall this year?

Counting down

Monday, December 24th, 2012

It’s Christmas Eve!!! I’m not sure about you, but I kinda feel like a little kid today. Part of me is also feeling a smidge on the guilty side for not posting last week, but I think everyone understands how it can be around the holidays. As I mentioned in my last post, I am testing the breadth of my creative talent by making quite a few of my gifts this year. It probably comes as no surprise that Pinterest was instrumental in inspiring this burst of “I can do that.” One element I did not anticipate was the DIY learning curve for a number of these projects. I’ll be sure to elaborate in greater detail on my Pinterest successes and failures after the holidays.

There still are a few loose ends to tie up so I’ll bid you adieu for now. Happy holidays!

Festive

Wednesday, December 12th, 2012

It’s that time of year! We may not have much in terms of snow, but I’m feeling quite festive at the moment. Today is going to be chock full of holiday DIY and I can’t wait to get started. Since these are mostly gifts for friends and family, I’ll have to wait until after the holidays have passed before I share pictures. In the meantime, here is some festive imagery to get me (and you) in the holiday spirit!

May your home be merry & bright

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

Talk about amazing… Recently I had the pleasure of meeting a very talented woman with a remarkable home. Miss Kandi has a fantastic eye, not just for decorating, but the architectural details as well. Between her creative vision and her husband’s proficiency in carpentry, there is little they cannot accomplish. Perhaps my most favorite feature of their 1904 home is the kitchen’s fireplace (bottom right), followed closely by the second set of stairs, which would have been originally used by the house staff.

Thank you again Miss Kandi!

A little holiday pick-me-up

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

Generally speaking, I am a pretty peppy person. But this holiday business is beginning to wear me a bit thin. After a particularly rough Monday and a plentiful To Do list still lingering in front of me, I thought I would take a time-out for a bit of holiday cheer.

Check out this charming creation from Angela Hardison. Just what the doctor ordered.

Holiday “HI!” on the fly

I don’t know about you, but life sure has me moving at full speed these days. Stay tuned for more holiday fun to come!

Count down!

Friday, October 8th, 2010

With Thanksgiving about 7-weeks away, it’s not too early to start planning for the holidays. This week I’m looking for an introduction to your friend or family member who is looking for decorating ideas this holiday season.

She may be a nervous rookie or is still trying to get settled into her new home. I can help her design for function as well as decorate to impress.

Call or write today! It will be turkey time before we know it :)
