Summer is an awesome time to paint. But when contemplating the options feels a bit like counting stars in the night sky, it’s no wonder that many are overwhelmed with the thought of it. Regardless of whether you love or hate to paint, color can have a remarkable affect on us - not just psychologically but physiologically.

Few people realize that color affects our mood, our appetite, even how well we are able to concentrate or relax in a space. Literally, color can make or break a room. Need I also mention that 1 in 10 men are also color blind?

Because color can be so complicated, and because I know the difference the right color can make, a color consultation is one of my favorite services I offer. I love being able to work with someone for what could be as little as an hour, and be able to provide them with peace of mind and confidence that they will love their color selection.

Spring is officially here. Whether or not we still have 2′ of snow in New England is another subject…. If you’re wondering what is trending for Spring 2014, read on.

From fashion to your front door, sticky sweet pastels are in bloom this spring. Rather than committing an entire room to this trend, I’m probably more likely to invest in a cute top or colorful shoes. But that is just me. This palette works well for many, especially blond hair/blue eye “spring” homeowners. Know what I mean?

For the last several months I have been busy with a very special project. In this situation, we are updating the old farmhouse my client grew up in. First on the To Do List: redesign the bedrooms for two little girls (ages 9 and 7). This was a fun and unique opportunity for me to play in the world of COOL and CUTE. Here are couple snapshots for your viewing pleasure.

But the fun doesn’t stop there! The 2nd floor hall and dual stairways received a major transformation as well. Stay tuned for more images to follow.

Chevron. Honestly, it is everywhere! Chevron must seriously be on trend right now because I am bumping into it left and right. Just see for yourself.

Since Thanksgiving is just a hop, skip and a jump around the corner, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to look at some lovely dining spaces. Feast your eyes on these beauties! (Get it?! Feast? hahahaha…. silly me).

Next in our oh-so exciting series dedicated to color… Honeysuckle! Perplexed? So wasn’t I. Although Honeysuckle is quite the juicy hue, I wasn’t quite sure what it looked like until I saw an example.

Named as the Pantone 2011 Color of the Year, Honeysuckle “emboldens us to face everyday troubles with verve and vigor. A dynamic reddish pink, Honeysuckle is encouraging and uplifting. As a woman in her early 30s, it should come as no surprise that many of my friends/ acquaintances are taking the next step in adulthood and becoming parents. Very exciting!

One benefit to working with a designer, is having a friend to see you through life’s many changes. A relationship that may start with a nursery can develop into finishing off the basement to create a playroom, or adding a bathroom to manage a house full of teenagers.
