marvelous mudrooms
Tuesday, September 2nd, 2014I’ve been wrestling with writers block for months. So rather than write, let’s explore some fantastic spaces, room by room.
Our adventure begins with what is typically the primary entrance to the home - the mudroom.
Essential characteristics for a successful space: durable/easy to clean surfaces, oodles of storage, and a strategy to stay organized. I like a variety of open (shelves or cubbies) and closed storage (i.e. drawers, cabinets or closets) for easy to access items and the flexibility to hide my mess.

Super cute!

One benefit to working with a designer, is having a friend to see you through life’s many changes. A relationship that may start with a nursery can develop into finishing off the basement to create a playroom, or adding a bathroom to manage a house full of teenagers.

Organize It
Friday, January 28th, 2011A common New Year’s resolution is to get organized and a great first place to start is by working on that troublesome closet. This especially works well this time of year because most people ended the holiday season with twice as much STUFF as they started with. So where does it go?
While some organizing strategies are universal, others need to be customized to individual storage problems. For instance, do you HATE folding clothes? If so, are you likely to fold your clothes? I doubt it. Also, think about the stuff you are storing. A woman with a shoe or purse collection will likely have different needs than an athletic family of five.
